Thames British School has launched a scholarship programme for Upper Secondary (IGCSE) and IB Diploma Programmes at our Włochy Campus. We aim to support academically gifted students who are truly curious, self-motivated, and engaged. Candidates may apply for either an academic scholarship or an outstanding merit scholarship.

Types of Financial Aid
The scholarships will be awarded to Year 10 and Year 12 (IGCSE and IBDP 1) candidates who demonstrate excellent capacity through entry examinations and the scholarship admission process.
The scholarship is awarded to candidates applying
for Years 10-12, based on their recruitment results and former achievements.

● demonstrate their English proficiency at the C1 level (CEFR).
Overall there will be 5 scholarships granted per year: one 100%, two 75%, and two 50% discounts on the yearly school fees. Thames British School Primary School alumni can also apply for the scholarship.
The scholarships will be granted for two academic years. Students winning these scholarships must maintain high academic results at the end of the first scholarship year (Year 10) at TBS. The students' results will be reviewed by a committee in order to verify continues eligibility for the scholarship in the following academic year.
A candidate who is awarded one of the 5 scholarships in Year 10, must meet the following requirements at the end of the academic year in order to maintain the scholarship in Year 11:
● obtain a grades average minimum of 5,00;
● obtain a minimum 'very good' behaviour mark;
● maintain attendance rate at a minimum level of 90%;
● by 30 June at the latest, certified results from the previous year must be presented to the school principal
● obtain a minimum score of 80% in Mathematics,

STEP 1: ENTRANCE EXAMS
In order to apply for the Academic Scholarship, a candidate is required to pass entrance examinations as required by the school, in which they must:

STEP 2: APPLICATION
Candidates' Parents apply for the scholarship by filling out the online form on the Thames British School website.
The deadline for submitting the application is 10th May, 2021.

STEP 3: SCHOLARSHIP ADMISSION TEST
On 15th May, 2021 candidates take a Scholarship Admission Test that will assess their general knowledge, their ability to formulate opinions, as well as their logical and analytical thinking skills.
STEP 4: INTERVIEW
Up to 10 candidates who obtained the highest results for Year 10 and Year 12will be shortlisted and invited to attend an interview on 29th May 2021. The interview will take approximately 10-15 minutes per candidate and will consist of two parts:
- a candidate's presentation;
- a conversation with the Scholarship Committee.
STEP 5: DECISION
The school informs the candidates' parents about the results of the scholarship application by August 5th.
Outstanding Merit Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded to candidates applying for Years 10-12, based on their recruitment results and former achievements.
Every year on July 15th at latest, the Upper Secondary Principal submits to the School Board two laureates of the upcoming academic year scholarship, one a 100% discount and one 50% discount on the school fee. The Principal chooses the scholarship winners from all applicants. The principal may offer the scholarship to candidates who did not apply but could be a great asset to the school. This award is subjective, however granted based one or more of the following attributes which must be confirmed by evidence (e.g. diplomas, certificates):

● achievements in charity engagement and activities of local or global relevance;
● outstanding sports or artistic achievements;
● tenacity in overcoming adversity.
A candidate who is awarded Outstanding Merit Scholarship must meet the following requirements at the end of the academic year in which the scholarship was granted in order to maintain the scholarship in the following academic year:

- a motivational letter written by the candidate that explains why they are the best candidate for the scholarship;
- scans of certificates, diplomas, school transcripts, and recommendation letters which serve as evidence of their outstanding merit and achievement
